NeoSCAN 1.2 Released

NeoSCAN 1.2 is now available on Github. This version has improvements to the Whisper AI integration and adds SDR support.

NeoSCAN 1.2 is now available through the Github repository. The two main changes in this version are:

  • Whisper AI has been extracted from the NeoSCAN codebase, and replaced with a simple API client that calls out to a standalone Whisper installation. There is a new project called whisper-wrapper-api-server that provides a compatible API wrapper around your Whisper installation. This wrapper can be run on the same machine as NeoSCAN or an external machine.

  • Support has been added for connecting a Software Defined Radio (SDR). Currently, the only functionality this is used for is to track nearby aircraft using ADS-B. The application will log any aircraft that fly in your antenna's range. There is also a "ATC Mode" that simulates an air traffic control radar so you track planes in your area in real-time.

I have been testing the application on a Mac Studio computer with four radios connected.

Uniden BCT-15X with a dedicated antenna tuned for VHF (around 150MHz) Uniden BCT-15X monitoring nearby towns that broadcast in analog UHF Uniden BCD-996P2 monitoring digital signals and trunked systems RTL-SDR Blog V4 for ADS-B

The last three share a wide-bandwidth antenna.
